Biography Project.

A heads up to those that read this post it does contains mild adult rated language.

For my biography I was tasked with looking into the the co creator and previous CEO of apple Steve Jobs and then create a illustrated book based on moments of his life, after reading a biography on him I have come to the conclusion I both like and hate Steve Jobs the guy was an ass for certain reasons but at the same time he was a generous guy, but mainly an ass, the reason I say this is well he was a terrible father who didn’t look after his daughter properly and he would make people feel like crap by calling computer systems and more piles of utter shit, he would pick out hand full of people zone in on them and just ignore the rest but at the same time had it not been for his ways apple wouldn’t be the power house of a company as it is today, but that doesn’t condone what he did in his life.

Some of the images in my book are in the wrong spot for when certain things have happened so I have sorted them out correctly on this post.

Roughs of biography.

each image contains a bit of information from Steve jobs life, however his life didn’t make sense because it was all over the place he wasn’t a very stable person he was a bit well nuts.

The beginning of the man named jobs Steve jobs!

Right from the start jobs without doing anything had a difficult life one that would later unfold into what can be described best as the man named Steve (in this image it is jobs a a baby who has just been adopted by Paul and Clara jobs.)

The child who is a pain.

jobs as a child was bored very easily and was all ways looking for ways to keep him entertained.
(To do this he simply messed around in class and played a hole lot of pranks one involving a firework under his tutors seat)

The day he met the great and intelligent woz.

one person Steve could talk to as an equal was the woz both students were trouble makers cause they needed to be entertained by something funny or amazing. (during a certain detention Steve meet the co founder Steve Wozniak who also shared an incredible intelligence just like he does.)

The black box

Eventually both pranksters created a phone hacking device which would allow them to call anyone and do a prank call.(both jobs and woz worked hard together for this small pet project and seemed to work well together could this be a path for a future partnership.)

Apple one

after some time together both jobs and woz along with another business partner they created a small company and successfully created the first apple computer.(after creating a successful pet project jobs and woz new they both had the same want from the technology world and with the help of a business partner they created the well known company known today as apple).

Wife

Whilst everything was going right in his life jobs meet a woman his heart skipped a beat for he was entranced by her they did many things together, life felt to him he was even going to be a father.(whilst jobs was working hard and enjoying his career he went through a face of smoking weed and all that other stupid stuff, whilst jobs was going through this faze he meet Laurene Powel a woman he became mesmerised by, there relation ship was a bit rocky but jobs all ways felt happy when he was with her).

Bad dad

sadly that happiness didn’t last eventually jobs focused on work on didn’t pay attention to things he should have he even ignored his own child.(At this point jobs had started to focus on his business and less on his career, this caused his wife to leave with the child, sadly with the brief period of being a father he was a bad one he didn’t really pay attention to his crying child and sometimes forgot she was there.)

Apple 2

After everything stated to go into focus for Steve his company released the apple 2 computer.(At this point jobs company was going great his focus on it allowed him to quickly release the apple 2, and it was a hit sales were booming and the company rocketed up into popularity.)

The stare

Sadly his focus at work was a living hell for hos workers, he had this act of choosing those he believes are A star players and zone in on them whilst ignoring the B star ones. (jobs had become a tyrant at his job to those he worked with they even called his focus the distortion field where unless he chooses you your a waste to him, when looking at your work he would call it shit and unless you were able to challenge him on that and prove him wrong you wern’t worth his time.)

A pirate

though that goes without saying when you’re and A star player you were treated well, you were given the luxury and parties when Steve was in a good mood in fact to him you guys were pirates who are standing on top of the world.(at this point jobs had become a great leader giving thoes that he had hand picked to be his A stars players luxury, he felt as though they were pirates that are going to challenge the big shot companies that are evil and that they can do this is because they are free and good.)

Outed

Sadly after a time people could no longer put up with jobs they weren’t achieving anything well worth notice so the company had made a plan to oust jobs and well they did. (after time jobs was just irritating his workers and the higher ups so they outed him off his own projects and left him working with lower projects but even then he was a pain at the end of it they ousted him out of the company but because he still had the most shares they couldn’t completely get rid of him but he couldn’t have a say in anything that would carry weight.)

NEXT

After a while of being ousted jobs became bored and needed to do something so he ended up making a new company called NEXT and it did very well.(At this point with jobs way of life he couldnt sit still and do nothing this ended up allowing him to make another computer based company called next and they focussed there sales on universities which did very well for them.)

Sister

sadly jobs mother passed away whilst things were going good again for jobs he ended up meeting his sister Mona jobs.(at this point Steve life was going well he had even found out that he was adopted and managed to find out he had a sister and tracked her down, he was so happy that he had more family members but never forgot about who raised him.)

MOM

Another meeting his sister Mona he also meet his biological mother Joanne Carole.(after attaining contact with his sister jobs ended up meeting his mother as well, he had a lot of questions which were answered he managed to become close with his mom but never for one minute forget his mother who had raised him.)

Pixar

Things are going all for job.(whilst his company NEXT was doing well jobs bought George Lucas ILM and renamed them as the power house we know today as pixar, though there was a lot of work to do to get it to where it is we know today.)

Toy story

After cleaning up pixar they finally brought out the film toy story and it was a hit, it made jobs worth billions more than he has ever been worth before.(after years of focus on pixar and firing all the people who weren’t A star players and buying the most shares then became ceo and put his main focus on pixar jobs managed to help the company thus allowing them to bring out the film toy story and thus made both pixar and Steve worth a lot of money.)

Back on top

After things were going well for jobs he got a call from his previous company wanting his return so he gladly accepted.(After seeing how well NEXT was doing and that he had become ceo of pixar and making himself worth a lot of money, apple who was doing badly at this point needed help and they could only rely on the very one who they ousted Steve Jobs who luckily for them accepted coming back.)

Revenge

After returning to apple jobs wanted what he deserved to be back with the power of rule.( over time steve managed to get it back by getting rid of those that got rid of him he felt justice had been served and even managed to create a bored of directors that would have his word as law.)

DAD

Still the thing he didn’t want back in his life was his biological dad.(After learning about the way his biological father was toward his mother putting her through a lot of arguments and stress jobs didn’t even want to meet the guy. That’s not to say that fate didn’t have them meet but jobs and the dad were unaware of that meet, still the only dad jobs cared about was the one who raised him and even of he had meet his real dad and that man had not been a bad person jobs would only really see his hero his dad as the one truly father to him.)

New age

After his return to save the companies from failing not only did he get rid of those he had been ousted by but began to work on new projects, and even manage to save the company by releasing an idea out to the world called think differently allowing them to gain people attention again.(during a american football game apple had bought a half time game show were they released an advert which was full of action making apple the good guys and Microsoft and IBM the bad guys which contained the words think differently thus spreading the idea of think differently around.)

Bigger man

During his return to apple jobs had needed the help of the CEO of Microsoft Bill Gates who he needed to create a program for the mac the next computer that was going to be released from apple.(during the time he returned Steve got straight into working on a new project called the macintosh aka the mac, though apple needed the help of Microsoft to create a programs for the mac the very one we know today as Microsoft process. During this truce they had a showcase of the mac and the projector which was linked to bill gates who was away projected him bigger on the screen than Steve this made him annoyed.)

Nemesis

Not long after the mac came out Microsoft released the programs to other computer companies betraying the agreement with apple, this made the two companies but heads and become what Steve called rivals.(Even though both jobs and bill were well known powerhouses of the computer world both have a lot of respect for one another but they liked to see each other as worthy rivals.)

Illness

sadly after becoming the power house CEO of two companies jobs fell very ill though this wasn’t the first time he had fallen pray to cancer this time it took too much out of him so he had to take a leave of absence so he could recover.(In the past Steve had suffered from cancer but had managed to beat it but this time round it came back with a bite).

Death

Sadly Steve passed away.(after fighting for as long as he could Steve body could no longer fight the cancer and he ended up passing away he will be missed.)

Today

even though that jobs has gone he had left inspiration in his company and they managed to continue to be the powerhouse computer companies they are today.(even though jobs was not there with idea apple managed to continue with the fighting spirit and bring out items we love and use today like the mac computers, the mac laptops, iPod and many more.)

To complete the finals I will need to gain more experience with drawing and painting face so I plan over the summer holiday to practice in doing both drawing and painting face to the point it becomes natural for me too do. the media I plan to use is acrylic paint.

overall this project average because I wasn’t good and drawing and painting faces but one thing I’m grateful about is that I have found a weakness I have and can now start to work on getting rid of it and turning it into a strength.

Ghost Stories

This was a relatively short project that took place as part of the visual languages project, what we had to do for this small brief was to read three books each on a spokey story and create a visual interpretation of what we see in our own minds when reading it, the books were The Treasure of Abbot Thomas, The Upper Berth and A Tale of an Empty House.

Each story was unique however the only two Ii really enjoyed was The Treasure of Abbot Thomas and The Upper Berth, out of those two my favourite was the upper berth it contained allot of intense moments that kept me focused on it rather than drifting off like when reading a good book, it kept me wanting to read more and more and find out about this haunted ship cabbing.

The only image I managed to create a final out of this small project was the scene from The Treasure of Abbot Thomas were they break down the wall in the well and are spoked by a demonic looking creature which causes them to flee

 To complete this piece I used a quick dry brush on the background and the wall then applies darker and lighter marks to give the rocks a form on the wall and the feeling of light shifting in the background,then i simply just used a dry brush of white on the daemon and then just applied detail over him.

The technique dry brush comes in handy for images like this to give a foggy or a smudgy texture.

overall I have enjoyed this small project and would like in the future to create more images based of books ive read solely for the purpose to see what my mind comes up with and no other.

Ted Talks retrieval

At the start of this project were were shown different clips of many different Ted talks, and then set the task of creating a Ted talk images either ten images or a small moving image movie. the Ted talk I have selected to focus my project in is Why we need to explore space more by Brian Cox, however I have simply taken parts from his talk and then adapted the talk to suit a more younger crowed because the next generation are the ones that can have dreams of becoming explores and try to make it a reality because they can start working on it at a young age,

How I will do this is by treating my work somewhat like a story book, seeing how both a Ted talks and stories carry through on it’s main focus. My work will be focused around a teddy (named Ted) who is trying to become a astronaut but in this case compared to a story it will be more intellectual but at the same time interesting using my images. as long ad the images are interesting it should keep there attention on a certain level. the reason I have chosen to focus my Ted talk on the younger generation is simply because they are the ones that inhabit what we leave behind, if we simply try act like we care about this stuff we can at least keep their focus away from becoming like us all caught up i stupid things.

The first image contains the opening to the story where Ted is simply in a dream state where he is in space. to complete this in a final I will use both media water colour and acrylic paint.

How I would open with the talk is simply by asking who in here dreams like Ted that they want to go to space one day and see the stars and new planets.

Ted inspired

on the second image I would follow with well just like every other job it takes a lot of dedication however in this case the earlier you start the better chance you have of reaching this dream and making it a reality and who wouldn’t want that now.

Support

On the third image I would follow with saying well not only does this job take dedication but it also calls for support from family but that isn’t a problem cause family will always support you.

Cost

On the fourth image I would follow with saying: now this is where its going to be a pain the cost of this dream is allot and not only will you have to pay but society will too because the government are the ones funding astronauts, but as long as you work had this will simply be trivial. because nothing beats being an astronaut and seeing the stars.

Jobs for others

The next two images I will talk about how that even though we have all these small trivial steeping stones to overcome when you achieve this goal not only will it help you but at the same time help others, there will be new jobs opening up for people to create rockets become scientists and doctors and even found more astronauts, why is that well simply because you will find new things out in the stars across the many planets you could visit like new animals, food and even more intelligent stuff like minerals which could be a further stepping stone to help our home grow.

what’s next for us?

how you ask well for doctors they could find new cures to bad things here, and for technicians well new materials to create spaceships and complicated stuff as protecting barriers from mean things that want to harm us how do we know this you ask.

Who knows the dinosaurs?

following the previous image: well who here knows of the giant beasts known as the dinosaurs, well as you all know dinosaurs are all gone and why is that well its believed that a giant rock fell to earth and wiped them out, well that could happen again to us this time so by exploring and finding these new things we can strengthen ourselves.

Distance

following previous image: sadly there is one other stepping stone but there is a way around this first we must explore what we can reach as of this moment in time, but as I mentioned by exploring we learn new things and improve any ways.

lastly: end the images but allow the children to ask even if it simply only captured a few its a stepping stone.

overall this project has been enjoyable trying to convey what the original Ted talk mentioned to a younger age was challenging but hopefully using cheap tricks such as the images we can get them dreaming. what I plan to do next with this project is move it into finals with colour and see what kinds of response I can get from people then add the talking into it later via a power point video.

After constantly re-watching the Ted talk I had selected and going through my project i have decided to change how my images will play out to suit the talk a little bit more better but still using the style of that for children because I still believe that the younger generation need to be more aware of what they can go for if they work hard enough because having a life goal is generally the best things you can have for yourself, seeing how those of my generation have already set their goals in life.

firstly I have changed the layout of how the images go that way it best suits the talk but I have still added certain points that I believe the talker has forgotten to mention, at a certain point he does tend to keep repeating previous points he has made each image that I have changed lines up best with certain points he makes.

The second image is of Saturn’s moon enceladus (at this point the speaker is talking about saturn moon and saying that through this image we noticed something important)

Third image is a glacier on Saturn moon Enceladus (at this point the speaker goes on that as a shuttle that was lauched a few years ago passed jupiters moon it spoted that there were possible glaciers on it spreading ice into space, if there is water on a moon or planet it is a possible place that we can sustain a home on.)

The fourth Image is of Jupiter and it’s moon Europa (at this point the speaker is going on about how by looking at jupiters moon we might be able to make another possible home. getting there is the task.)

The fifth Image is of our exploration of our universe answers the question are we alone.(at this point the speaker mentions that through exploring new planets and noticing habitable place were life may actually be it answers the question are we alone.)

The sixth image is of exploring space shows us that we are not indestructible.(at this point the speaker goes on about how through exploring the universe and seeing how small we are compared to it we have realised that we are not indestructible.)

The seventh image is of the fact that when we explore we gain many things ranging from materials, to food, to a new home. (at this point the speaker mentions through exploring new the universe we were able to to understand that our world is our home and that if we destroyed it we would be extinct. he mentions something about the 19th century)

The eighth image is of the fact that by discovering new things we are able to invent new iteams (at this point the speaker goes on about how through exploring and discovering the universe we were able to create painkillers and resisters)

the ninth image is one that I came up with at this point the speaker starts to repeat himself and goes on about quotes he likes, what mine means is that the distance is one of the biggest things explorers are up against, the time between two planets is sometime light years away, but hopefully the more we explore and the more we find out sonner or later we will be able to discover a way to move from point A to B in a day.

image one, two, three, four and five are done using acrylic paint the technique I used was to first paint the standard image then dry brush over it, this technique is a long one because if your aiming to dry brush certain spots of the image you have to be careful then paint over any mistakes, it is a long but effective technique but however I’m not that great at using acrylic paint on more delicate images, I prefer to use water paint or on some occasions oil paints. something that I can practise using is acrylic paint on more delicate images over the summer holiday to better myself so that I may use it in the future.

Overall I prefer how I went with redoing this project compared to my first attempt it seemed to go a whole lot better but I have found out new things that i need to work on so that also adds to this project going well.

Charity Project

At the beginning of the project we were tasked with choosing a charity of our choice to focus our work on, now this was difficult for me because I don’t really trust charities and would rather deal with helping people myself so that I know exactly where my money is going to and how its actually helping, it’s simply how I prefer to deal with things, now that’s be said it made choosing a charity to focus on because even though I am like this if I were to chose a charity to help I would look at all the pros and cons.

I started off by researching three charities the names of these charities are, salvation army, Alzheimer’s society and Greenpeace, each charity has a goal that would help millions of people in different ways which is why it made choosing the charities hard on me. The one I went with in the end was Greenpeace the reason this is, is because there overall goal is to help the entire planet, which in turns help everything else, how I see this is if everything else is that we struggle with is sorted then we can then put all our efforts into research for the others. hopefully at the end of this project you can understand why I look at it this way.

Greenpeace, a charity in which has the goal of doing the best for this world by means of peace, they fight the good fight of wanting to help everything on this planet be us, animals and even our environment by protesting, court battles, and some time a little crafty stuff but all in them means of achieving a goal were this world and everything on it can live peacefully without war, pollution, abuse and so many other horrid subjects. there main focus is our environment, through protecting it and stabilizing it they can in turn help us, show us how we should live and keep our planet from harm of our stupidity, they do this by exposing and fighting those that cause the harm. for years they have fought companies who pollute the oceans, cut down our trees and harm our animals. they are a self funded organization who gets help from those that want to also do good for our world and there are numerous people doing so.

After researching there morals and looking at several of their campaigns waged against companies and such, I Have been inspired to create artwork that hopefully convey there messages of saving our environment, to do this I will try to use my work and the research I have done to create three billboard images that will on the image show others the damages that each of the three campaigns I have looked at.

The first campaign I have looked at and have decided to create a billboard image for is:
a campaign were they fought with the companie known as Ikea, they went to court with Ikea over the fact they were cutting down ancient forests and not re sustaining them, Greenpeace won the case and Ikea has promised that they will only cut down forests that are certified as sustainably manageable by the steward ship council.

this billboard was in my opinion the easiest one to do because each person is aware of how much tress are cut down and by what. my idea for the final image is to have rotting chainsaws that are being covered in vines with the words of put your weapons of mass deforestation down. in the background will be cut down tress and log piles with vines covering them as well and newly growing tress. in the bottom corner it will have the rest of my saying which is help your forests live because without them breathing will come to an end,

The second campaign that I looked at was a campaign were Greenpeace exposed a ship called The Gem dumping toxic waste into the northern Atlantic. How I am going to create an image that best recreate this is by using a oil drill in the ocean drilling into the ground with oil spilling out into the ocean onto sea-life part of the image will be 3D I will have the oil spill out onto the floor to do this i will use thick acrylic paint filled with a bit of glue and pour in onto the piece.

Rough of Second Campaign

The third and final campaign I’m going to go with is overall what Greenpeace wishes to do and that is to have a place where everyone is equal and treated right even the animals, A utopia, to do this I will create a 3D piece that will reflect this very idea.

sadly the final piece attempts I have done so far on this project have not gone well in my opinion and I plan to redo them after submission.

Overall this project has been hard because of how I am with charities but after looking into i did start to enjoy it, however the only part if this project i wont be doing just yet is the 3D piece which I will do over the summer holiday because it would take to long to do before the term ends, I would like to carry this project through next year and focus on a few charities instead of one because the other charities I mentioned earlier in this blog post are ones that are interesting to me.
